The Great Escape!

The PICC line cleared this morning and Miraculously all of the stars aligned! Forrest is blazing westward in his Team 44 Van ... destination Brightwood! With overflowing gratitude to our faithful prayer warriors, Pops for his round the clock patience encouragement and love, Tami's logistical wizardry, love & unfailing good humor, Judy and her amazing nurses from the Medical Team who helped get Forrest safely through this harrowing week, the expertise & compassion of the Extraordinary Neurosurgical, Plastics & Nursing team from Washington Hospital Center, the unconditional love of family and friends near & far (especially Austin who sent his special force to us almost hourly!) and most of all the spirit and determination of a beloved son and brother. And now we will raise our eyes to the horizon, breathe deeply, smile broadly and leap together over whatever hurdles lie ahead. Kick on, Forrest! Mum

  1. Celebrations and thankfulness...home is good, prayers are answered. Heal up and we know you will forge ahead Forrest. Love to all....

  2. Oh Forrest, I'm so glad you got to go back home. Will pray that everything will be smooth sailing for you now that you are back home again.

    Love and Prayers,

    Wilbur & Joyce in Missouri

    1. So happy you're headed home with your wonderful family. You're strength and will are amazing. You all are in my thoughts and prayers!

  3. Yahoo! You're HOME! I was so happy yesterday thinking of you in the sunshine. I hope that you were able to feel it on your face for a minute.

If not, you'll get lots of chances coming up again after today....warmer, sunny days are their way, Forrest. This is YOUR spring coming up.

I have been praying for you, dear Forrest! Praying that your grafts will take, that your graft site doesn't sting / hurt too badly, that any and all infection leave your body.

I was thinking of you and a quote that Charlotte has on her bulletin board came to mind again: "The bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you forget to turn."

You never NOT turn, buddy. You just keep navigating your way around any and all boulders put on your path and inspire your family, friends, warriors near and far on the circuitous and sometimes arduous journey that you have been on the last two years.

I'm grateful that you are home and I'm thankful that your recent surgery has been a success to date. I pray it will continue to be so. I'm grateful for your incredible friends. I ask for a special blessing for each one of them for their devotion to you! It's a real testament to the friend that YOU are to them, Forrest.

    With love and gratitude,
Shannon and all the Davis family xo
