Three Years 1/14/14

Three long years...
Forest continues to fight the good fight. While it has been three years today since his injury he continues to progress and try harder every day.  He is still at home and studying for his history final.  We monitor his scalp for signs of break down and are considering hyperbaric oxygen therapy on the advice of his neurosurgeon.  We appreciate all his friends who contact him on a regular basis and keep his spirits up.
Gio and Shayna dropped by the other day and his spirits picked up immensely.  So we soldier on and especially our favorite soldier in the world Forrest. He has the heart of a Lion and continues to fight every day. Three years,10 years, whatever it takes we will get there. Dad and team 44

  1. Good to see a man in the kitchen!!! How many pancakes did you eat??
The time has been long, the road has had straightaways and sharp turns but it keeps on going always toward the finish line. You are a top-notch driver and your pit crew is the best!!! Continue on toward the checkered flag!! Team 44 you are the best any driver could ask for!! Sharon

  2. Kent and Austin, thanks for the update and picture. You are lookin' good, Forrest, and that breakfast looks yummy! We had lunch with Norma Lou and 6 others Sunday, and we had a great, laughing time together. Two of the widow ladies had asked our Preacher, Darin Chappell, his wife, son, plus one other boy to join us, and they wanted to pay for all four of them. We tried to help with the bill, and they said, "NO", so we backed off. They LOVE to buy lunch for people, and they just insist that they pay everything!! We have quite a time with our three ladies, and Wilbur gets ribbed all the time for being the only man with 4 women! They all love teasing Wil,who is a great teaser himself. When he teases them, they fire something right back at him!
He never gets ahead of them! It's really fun watching them!
Okay, I've rambled long enough! Forrest and team 44, you take care and keep the home fires burnin' ! Forrest, still praying every day for your progress. Austin, I'm so glad you got to stay home longer so all of you could enjoy the extra time together!

    Love and Prayers,

    Joyce and Wilbur Ellis

  5. Forrest,
Have I ever told you how tough you are . . . . You have the tenacity of a junk yard dog. No retreat. Always forward. Sometimes when it is just to hard to think about, don't. On those days, you just have to lean forward and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Keep going. We are so proud of you and your team. There is light ahead. With love and admiration,
    Uncle John

  6. Forrest, you are looking good! The Med Team misses you and wants to cheer you on! I do hope you get to that goal you told me about on the drives to school- kicking Austin's butt on the new Halo game.
    Fight on!

  8. I know this photo is more than a month old, but I wanted to comment because it's exciting to see him up and about in a setting I recognize. :) Stay strong Forrest and Team 44! I think of you often--you are such an amazing family. --Stephanie Church
