I can only describe your outlook on the drive home as "High On Life"! You have been so patient through so many setbacks, that your elation now is even more profound. Explaining to friends last night you exclaim, "I have my whole skull back! I'm ME again!!!!" Darlin' you have been you, and only you, every day of this journey, but now at last you see your whole self when you check out your reflection in the mirror.
You are already game to jump back into your hectic schedule. Last night when Del called to welcome you home, you began planning your work outs telling him " I'd really rather not become a stick again!" Patience Darlin', Patience. You still need time to heal, but there's no stopping you now!
We are so thankful for all your faithful friends and supporters, especially to the guy friends who have been hanging out overnight to keep you company and safe at home. Last night your first night home from the hospital was a bit rough with some pain and your good friend Ben was there to help you get to through it. God bless Ben.
Love,
Mum
Hello all! Ben here, one of Forrest’s friends! This is my first time writing for the Team 44 blog (and first time writing a blog in general), so take it easy on me! I am so glad you are home man! I am beyond relieved that your surgery went well. I am constantly in awe of your incredibly positive attitude. Every time I think I may have a bad day, or think I am going through a rough time, I just think of you and your mentality. I think, “What would Forrest say right now?” A lot of times you help me realize my true potential that I don’t even see in myself. Your contagious smile and ability to laugh and light up the entire room is something not many people possess.
There are times where I may doubt myself, but then just hear your resounding voice in the back of my head telling me to keep pushing forward. For that I just want to say thank you! You are there for me more than you realize. I cannot begin to express the gratitude I have for you and your family, and all of the opportunities you guys have given me.
Now on a more serious note, I truly believe you are the one to pioneer the return of the fanny pack (for those of you that don’t know, Forrest has to have a post-op IV pump attached him on his person, which he carries in a fanny pack), because he totally pulls it off. Thanks for letting me write all over your blog champ! Here’s to all the good times we’ve had, and all the amazing times we are yet to experience! Thanks for always being you and always being a wonderful friend! - Ben
Hooray for homecoming! It's so great to see you up and about and smiling that contagious smile of yours Forrest! We are so looking forward to seeing you back in the office, so take care of yourself so you can grace us with your presence again soon!

Tears of joy at reading this post. We all love you, Forrest, and your spirit! I have especially enjoyed watching your humor and "naughty" come back over the years, and having your "whole skull" is only going to make you even more AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Forrest
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but I wanted to thank you, because you are bringing so much light to my life, your smile fill my mother's heart with joy and happiness, my son Numita had his bone flap back also this past friday and he is healing good thanks God, from now on we just need to get a lot of therapy, hard days won't last forever, we keep believing and hoping, then at just the right time God will lift him up. Until then we give all the worries to him and trust that He has a perfect plan for our life because He love us so very much, and like I always say there is nothing like hope, faith and love can't heal. Just keep swimming Forrest you are meant to be a super special person. May God always bless you and you entire family and friends.
Love
Maria and Numita.
Way to go, Forrest!! To quote a kid who saw you in Same Sky, you're "baller!"
