One Day at a Time 12/30/13

Oh Darlin Forrest,  the surgeons had to operate again yesterday to try yet again to repair the incision that seemingly refuses to heal.  Your poor tortured scalp is holding together by the sheer effort of your unfathomunable resilience and thousands of prayers.  We are slipping our power packed protein smoothie into you to fuel your body while we feed your spirit by replaying video messages from your amazing friends. Austin adds his powerful potion of You Tube Comedy and incomparable brotherly love. Your Pops wraps us all in his protective arms while he tirelessly researches the latest developments in craniofacial reconstructive surgery.  And your Warrior Aunt Tricia stands guard at night to keep you safe and help you sleep between endless neuro exams and medications.   We are rereading "The Secret" out loud and refusing to envision any future other than your complete recovery. We are praying for a respite from all these surgeries so that your scalp can heal enough for us to safely get you home and then for a long term plan that restores your health and vitality.

Through this interminable nightmare you still maintain your characteristic humor and grace under fire, thanking your nurses and doctors even after their efforts made you howl.  You remain entirely completely miraculously the Forrest we love and adore.  This is our greatest blessing of all.

  7. Oh Forrest I am sorry you are going through this! I had not checked the blog in a while and when I saw that you had to have your lid removed I was so disappointed for you. To be honest, I actually said some cuss words out loud that I will not repeat because they do not fall in line with the positive spirit of the blog! I think you are the bravest person with the utmost strength and resilience. Your family is brilliant and I know as a team you will prevail. I remember early on in the blog, if memory serves, one of your favorite expressions is, "if nothing goes right...go left." So, go left and find your way through this. I truly believe you will and I love seeing your smiling face in the pictures. Happy belated birthday, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. I know in my heart 2014 will be a great year for you full of healing, happiness, and joy!

  8. Forrest, your turban is the "in" style today, similar to the headgear worn by the various marching bands in the Rose Parade this morning. It is a New Year and all members of Team Forrest, far and wide, are marching forth with support and determination for your COMPLETE healing. You and your immediate support circle inspire us all and we salute you.
    Sending love,
    Diane & Jay
