Update: 10:30pm on 3/8

News Flash: Today Forrest retired his faithful wheelchair and is now determined to get wherever he needs to go within Shepherd Hospital via the power of his own two long legs! This new challenge will help him build up his stamina for the demands associated with the next phase of his recovery. Also, the MRI of Forrest's brain confirms the swelling and hemorrhage have resolved and that he is cleared for surgery Thursday morning. We are all really eager to get this behind us and have his new "lid" put on! It will mean another MAJOR milestone in his recovery is accomplished! The current annoying challenge is the apparent persistent miscommunication between Forrest's injured brain and his stomach. The signals keep getting switched and his brain tells his stomach to throw it all up. The docs are trying some additional medications to resolve this pesky problem since we are working so hard to put some weight back on this bean-pole! Overall, great progress and continued gratitude for our many daily blessings.

Love to all, Mum + Team Forrest

Thumbs up

  1. Fantastic news! What a way to start the Lenten season....with this glorious news! It seems only yesterday that you posted Forrest was able to propel himself in his chair and now it is no more, praise God. Wow.

And surgery tomorrow to further protect and restore that blessedly healing brain. Double wow. You've made my day! I will cover Forrest and all of you in prayer tomorrow.

Rae, if you get a minute, I wanted to share a few private words but I don't have your email...mine is smccdavis@earthlink.net.

Thank you for the gift of this blog.

  7. Forrest; You have made my day reading about your progress and seeing all of the great pictures from the last few days! Your improvement every week is mind boggling. So proud of you. Sundance is lying here by my side (snoring) unphased by this heavy rain and the loud BANGS from this GA storm. He will be overjoyed to see all of you again soon..... maybe this weekend for a visit? We will be thinking and praying for you tomorrow.

  10. Hi Forrest & Team Forrest,

Fantastic news about no longer needing your wheelchair! You are growing stronger & healthier every day. Your hard work, determination and courage are a great inspiration to us. Keep that wonderful momentum--onward & upward!

We're glad to know the surgery will soon be behind you and it won't be long until you are walking out of there & back into your home in Virginia. The grass is turning green here & I'll bet you will be here to see the dogwoods & redbuds in bloom!

Thanks to Team Forrest for all the great news and updates. We pray for your health & speedy recovery every day. God Bless you all.
